Here’s for a starter on Steven Pinker who is a linguist/professor at MIT. He supports that ASL is a language since humans have an innate ability to communicate, thus a language. :-)

Broadcast networks, newspapers, music labels struggle while Internet rises
Read this article and you’ll see why Google is gonna be #1 media company, with YouTube, news aggregator, reader, and ofc the best search engine underneath.
Newspapers also struggled mightily in 2007, in ways that hinted at underlying problems in the business. The New York Times canceled its Times Select online tool because not enough viewers were willing to pay for content.
Google adds YouTube and Products results in the sidebar
As usual, I was surfing and saw this page showing YouTube and Products results in the sidebar above the sponsored ad.
I cropped up the images so you can see the difference.

So, Google is combining videos, images, news, and products into the search . That said, it’s a universal search and the one with the fastest engine. I’m convinced that there is no other search engine that can output results as fast as Google does. It’s like you are in a Millenium Falcon (the fastest spacecraft in Star Wars) zooming through the universe.
Who is Ryan Germick?
He’s the guy in the orange shirt and know what? he happens to be my co-worker as a graphic illustrator. I can’t believe the video clip he made has been viewed 6,903,499 times and even more that his desk is right across from mine. His work is awesome.

Google is now the 5th highest-valued company in the US
I subscribe to Google’s investing email subscription and saw someone posted that Google is now the 5th highest-valued company in the U.S.
It’s time once again to step back, pause, and marvel at the growth of Google. As of the close of trading today, 10/30/2007, a company that is roughly a decade old and that has been a publicly traded company
for only a little over 3 years is now the *5th* largest company in the US by market cap.A couple months ago we were roughly 15th. Companies this large don’t
usually shift around in the list this quickly, especially in the upward direction. We’ve grown and much of the rest of the market has shrunk recently. In trading today we went up over 2% and closed with a market cap of $216.86B (according to Yahoo Finance) while Proctor and Gamble, the previous #5 went down 4%, closing at $215.18B (after hours the gap continued to widen). Some of the other companies we’ve passed recently include Walmart, Johnson and Johnson, Chevron, Cisco, Citigroup, and Bank of America. The only larger US companies by market cap are now AT&T, Microsoft, GE, and Exxon.Worldwide, Google appears to have just broken into the top 20 based on data from a recent article, but I don’t know how far in. (It’s harder to get a good up-to-date list of top companies by market cap worldwide. If someone knows a good site to do this, let me know.)
Wow!
Google Search in BMW
BMW manufacturer loves to put latest gadgets in their cars like they did with iPod. Now, they’re doing it again with Google, putting their local Map search in. Google has a competitive advantage over other GPS providers with their fast-loading Map pages and relevant searches.

BMW is the only automobile manufacturer to offer the Google local search in the car - available now. For the first time, you can use this search function to look for local information everywhere in Germany with the world’s most famous online search engine. When you find what you want, the details are transferred to the navigation system and car phone at the touch of a button. The system identifies the location and destination of the vehicle automatically and displays the results in the vicinity with details of address, phone number and distance.
How do I handle my gmail?
This is just going to be a little note of what I usually handle with my gmails.
First of all, gmail is the best web email app around, bar none. It’s light, efficient, fast, and you can check emails anywhere with an access to the internet, on computers or mobile. On top of that, you can search through your emails, which is really what separated it from other hundreds of email services. It also actually check for new mails for you so you don’t have to keep refreshing the page. And there’s no annoying flashing graphical ads that seem to take up half of your screen. Who ever wants that!?
Now, I rarely use archive, I just leave them in my inbox but all of them is marked read or in a light blue background from a white background color. If I get promotions, advertisements, or any non-personal emails, I delete them. Remember, when you delete, it’s going to stay in trash for 30 days, so no worries, if you ever need them again, just find them in the trash. Because I think 30 days is long enough to know that you don’t need them anymore.
Well, you might ask why I don’t bother to use archive? well, I kinda let it archive itself when it goes into the next page and I like to keep having a glance at my current messages on the first page; maybe I might spot some emails that need a reply. I try to mark all of my emails read so that the number of new emails stay at 0 next to the inbox label so it’s easy for me to know if I got a new email or not.
Lastly, this is more of advice, don’t delete your personal messages, keep them or archive them, because in 50 years from now on, you’re going to want to read some of ur old emails and remember the days. Some of your friends or family will be no longer able to email you anymore, so it’s going to be what you have of them. That’s what I said to my friends to convince them to switch to gmail. :-)
I’m going to email to my grandmother after this.
